Cynthia Sierra, MS, LPC
Founder & Therapist
I am the founder and primary therapist at The Intrinsic Mind, PLLC. I began my journey into counseling by serving the League City and Clear Lake area as a medical assistant. My drive to help my community led me to the University of Houston Clear Lake where I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Counseling. I am a wife and mother of two and I am an active member of my church and community.
I am trained in many counseling modalities: Mindful Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, parenting, play therapy, and trauma-informed person-centered talk therapy. I specialize in co-occurring conditions, depression, anxiety, work/school-related issues, career counseling, parenting issues/support, families, anger, self-esteem, PTSD, grief/loss, and mood problems. I use holistic and evidenced-based approaches striving to work collaboratively with children, parents, teachers, doctors, and schools to help clients achieve their treatment goals.
”My philosophy of helping is one of partnership. You are the expert in your life, and I will work to understand your lifestyle and set therapeutic goals accordingly. I will help you to look deeper into issues. The probing may be hard, but my hope is that you will find the understanding that will lead to inner peace. Life can be unpredictable. Our minds are dynamic and complex and when harnessed properly, a powerful tool in our lives. It is easy to feel stuck, lost, hopeless, and overwhelmed if we believe that we lack the knowledge and resources to approach our adversities. In the face of these problems, it is helpful to identify solutions. This is how I hope to help you. Together we can find what works, explore what is possible, and develop a safe and trusting partnership.”

Therapist
My educational journey began as an early college high school student at Clear Horizons. I obtained my Associate of Arts from San Jacinto College and transferred to Lamar University to continue my studies. At Lamar University, I obtained my Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences. Shortly after graduation, I began working as an Educational Planner for Veterans. It was through this role that I found my calling. I returned to Lamar University and obtained my Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. During my masters program, I began working as a student intern at a nonprofit in Galveston County. Through that role, I provided services to children and adults in the community and schools. I have since continued working with individuals, families, groups, and providing parenting classes in various settings.
Life can be hard and overwhelming some days. You don't have to tackle these challenges alone! I strive to provide a safe and welcoming environment to clients where we can process current stressors, trauma, and other things that might be occurring in your day-to-day life.
Through my roles, I've found a passion for working with clients who have experienced trauma, anxiety, depression, and/or anger. I also have experience working with clients who have struggled with their family relationships and communication. No matter what we are working on, my goal is to ensure that you feel heard, valued, and empowered.
I look forward to getting to know you and to working alongside you as you navigate life's challenges!
